Mid Caucasian Tur!

The hunt took place in the Uchkulansky district, in the Gandhara gorge, near Elbrus from the side of the KCR. The organizer was Magomed Akhmatovich, on the basis of a license issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources issued by my name. We got by car to an altitude of 1900 meters above sea level. The base camp was located in a stationary, comfortable Koshara with a stove. Our group consisted of three guides, a video operator and a hunter. In early morning, before dawn, we moved up the gorge on horseback, when dawn broke, we began to explore the mountains around. When we reached the dead end of the gorge, we dismounted and the guide went further to check the surroundings and we continued to explore the mountains around. We noticed a herd of female goats, but there were no males. Our guide Sergey returned and said that he found a lone tur of 13 years old with trophy-sized horns. It was on the slope to our right through two gorges and was wandering in our direction. It was decided to climb up the rocks to cross its path. The ascent turned out to be difficult, and required climbing skills because it was necessary to climb along a vertical rockfall along a half-frozen river with waterfalls. The stones were covered with ice or wet. At some point in the ascent, we realized that it would not be possible to go down that route, and we did not know what was further on top, there could be a dead end and we would fall into a trap. A rope and sticks with a metal tip helped to fix the shoe on the ice and pull us up in difficult places by securing the rope. After climbing to the top from 2200 to 2700 meters, we found a mixed herd of goats and turs. There were a lot of eyes and a changeable wind made it difficult to hide and we could be discovered by animals at any moment. We began to look through the rocks and found four Turs up the slope, which had rest on the slope. The horns of one male were white and covered with snow. We decided to get closer to them. I climbed to a distance of 220 meters with an elevation angle of 33 degrees, and decided to shoot at the Tur with white horns. I shot and missed, then shot once again to the right and higher. It was not clear why; the distance was not large and such a shift. Turs rushed up. It turned out later, when we watched the video, it was good that I missed because the tur turned out to be with a beard, a sure sign of the Kuban tur. (Its horns were in the snow and it was not possible to see the cones on the horns characteristic of the Kuban tur). Meanwhile, the turs climbed higher on the rock, calmed down and gave the opportunity to shoot more! I shot again and heard how the guide said that it was a miss again, the bullet lay to the right. Then the turs disappeared completely. I was really upset. It was such a difficult climb and two misses at a short distance, I couldn't understand what was the matter! After taking a breath, we decided to go down to a more convenient place, to make a halt, and decide what to do next. After going down a little, we took out thermos flasks, and Sergey decided to go and see the place around. And suddenly stones flew from above and oh Gods, the tur fell overturning with them! I hit it and hit in the neck, as it turned out later. A big failure turned into a Jackpot overnight! After all, it reached and fell at our feet, as thought that we missed it, could not find . The bullet took off and hit the rock to the right, which they guide thought as a miss. Hurray! I got the trophy! Another good luck was that the tur turned out to be Mid Caucasian tur, as required! The herd was mixed and there were Cubans turs in it. The tur, I got, the age of the rings was more than 11 years old, the size of the horns was 66.5 cm without 28 cm, the dimensions were not record-breaking, but for these harsh places where there was a poor food supply and constant cold, decent. The distance of the shot was 263 meters with an angle to the top of 33 degrees. Carbine 300wm, Norma Tipstrike 11.7 grams.

Caucasian chamois

Hunting took place in North Ossetia in a private hunting farm "Afsati Fund". The place was the Karmadon Gorge. It was even dark, when in the early morning we went to the foot of the rocks and began to view the mountains with a thermal imager. It was not possible to find anything worthwhile, and we began to climb in order to climb to the intended location of the animals by dawn. And so it happened, we found a group of Chamois with four animals when dawn broke. They all had perspective horns. The distance was about 700 meters. We decided to come closer, and overcame the gorge. The chamois had moved somewhere by that time, then we decided to go further, to the neighboring gorge. When we came to it, they were not there, although an hour ago we saw how the goats were playing and running down the slope. We decided to make a halt and wait, if they would appear. But nobody came. Our guide Murat went to inspect the gorge down below us and found Chamois in the woods below us. The distance from us was ~ 263 meters, he measured the distance with a rangefinder, the device determined the correction taking into account the angle of inclination down to 34 degrees The distance was not great, but it was inconvenient to shoot, almost with the hands. We were at 2200 meters. The mountains there, were not high but very steep! I decided to take a chance and fired! The chamois jumped up and disappeared behind the slope in the bushes! We started to go down the slope and search for the trophy . We found a Chamois in the bushes, which stopped its fall. Hurray! I got the trophy! It became a seven-year-old goat with horns of 20.5 cm, not a record, but quite a trophy specimen of the "Mid Caucasian Chamois"! I am infinitely glad that the goal has been achieved and we are with the trophy! Carbine 300wm, NormaTip strike 11.7 gr Pim. Hunting was of medium difficulty; the farm was excellent.

North Ossetia 2022

Alexey Aziev invited me to visit North Ossetia. The target was the Middle Caucasian chamois. I arrived in the evening and spent  the night at the hotel.  I got up early and moved to the mountains.  It was possible to detect several groups of chamois at an altitude of about 2800 meters. The weather was sunny and the wind was strong. The relief allowed us to get close enough. I shot at 100 meters.  Special thanks to the huntsmen - Valery Basiev, George Ilurov and Kazbek Gazdanov.

CHAMOIS OF THE WEST CAUCASUS

The age of the animal is 8 years old. The distance to the target is 250 meters.

Охота в Таджикистане на Марко Поло и козерога.

In early November, I hunted in Tajikistan with Yuri Mathison. On the first day of hunting in the evening, I  got a shot from 670 meters and took the trophy of Marco Polo. On the third day of the hunt, we managed to find an ibex. I shot from a distance of 450 meters, and hit it, but the wounded male began to leave. A shot from a distance of 705 meters managed to get it.

The Call of the Far Eastern taiga

It was unusually intense in emotions and impressions hunting, one of the most difficult and interesting taiga hunts. I studied all the local deer for a week and already on the final day of my stay in the taiga, I tracked down and found an animal on my own, which came out to me at 50 meters.

Caucasian deer

What is it not a mountain trophy?  Moving while hunting in the mountains was comparable to hunting chamois, and the emotions of hunting deer were special. I hunted with hospitable friends from North Ossetia.
Russian Super Cup

Roe deer

I organized that  hunt Independently  near a country house.
Russian Super Cup

Caucasian bear

Алтайский марал

I've been going to Altai for 10 years and deciding who to choose as an outfitter. Everything went incredibly well. I  called a deer  independently with a pipe, which came t and was successfully hunted. We were lucky with the weather. The bull was hunted on the first day of the hunt, and the next day it was loaded with snow for several days. All movement took place on horseback. Altai is incredibly beautiful and attractive.
