I hunted in the period from 6th to 10th of November, 2017. Everything was organized on the high level. We hunted three times and I got the trophies of the Mid-Caucasus Chamois (320m0 and two Dagestan Tur (540m). Thank you very much to outfitters for this hunt.
I and my son Gleb hunted on October 23rd in 100 km from Malaga. We started at 6.30 am when drove to the height 1900 masl and then climbed to the top.The height of the mountains is about 2000-2300 m. At 8 am we detected two nice ibexes and began to approach them.Gleb got his trophy at 11 am. The shooting distance was 310 m, the gun Blazer R93cal. - 300 Win Mag.At 2pm we spotted one more group of Ibexes which had rest. We frighten them and the group ran. I got the running aim.The distance was 163 m, gun - Blazer R93cal. - 300 Win Mag.
In 2016 I had easily hunted for three species of Ibexes. All those hunts took me just five days. Thus I wanted to make something like that in 2017 and planned to hunt in Spain. I decided not to take my own gun and it was the mistake. If I had it everything would be much easier. The rented gun was one of the reasons why I wasted so much time chasing the Gredos Ibex and the Pyrenean Chamois. All shots were done at the high angles and I had to take into account the wind which influenced the trajectory of the bullet on such distances. I have to say some words about weather. It was different in all regions. It was almost hot in the Gredos mountains but rainy and chilly in Cantabria. The Pyrenean met us by light minus and strong wind to 15-20 m/s.Thus I took me 10 days to get three trophies. Everything was organized very well. Thank you very much to Ilya Dmitriev. The result of the trip is so. I closed to Slams of GSCO: World Capra and Triple Slam. The Pyrenean Chamois became my 50th anniversary mountain trophy.
I hunted with my friend and we were lucky. At the first day we both got two trophies of the Siberian Ibexes. I shot from 400m distance. The weather was nice.
Late evening I arrived to Trabzon. The accommodation was in the country house and I spent that night on the sofa but in the sleeping bag. Next morning we drove to examine the surroundings and test the gun, the hunt was planned on the next day. At 6.30 am we started and in four hours’ drive the guide detected the chamois in 240 m from the car. I didn’t have enough time but quickly uncovered the gun and fired laying the rifle on the hood of the car. I shot several times but missed. The Chamois ran with some stops and was difficult to predict. Next morning we started at 5.30 am. The climb from 2000 to 3000 masl took us about 6 hours. We noticed the group of 12 animals and waited about an hour while the chosen male would take the good position. I fired from 300m. My trophy 12 years old male, horns -22sm, average size. The descend took us also 6 hours. The weather wasn’t good. It was rain with show and down hills were covered by fog
I left Barcelona at 4.30 pm by car and arrived to the place in the evening. Next morning at 9.30 am we started to hunt. We detected the chamois at 11 am , I fired from the distance 230. My trophy 11 years old male with the horns 21 sm. Same day I drove back to Barcelona.
I flew to Bishkek on October, 31. That night we spent in the hotel. Next morning our group drove to the hunting area, it took us 8 hours. After arriving to the place we’d tested guns and moved to the mobile camp, located closer to the sheep habitat. It was set on the elevation of 3200 masl. The hunt took place at the altitude 3500-4000 masl. I used Mildronate and hypoxen as a prevention from mountain sickness and was pleased by their actio n. My endurance became much higher. Day 1: We detected a good sheep but the shooting distance was 772m. The furthest distance I’d shot before was 762m when I hit the marmot’s neck. The stock of my Orsis comfortable laid on the arm and I decided to try. The sheep is bigger than the marmot and I had a chance to hit. I fired and hit it. The guides started to congratulate me when suddenly the sheep got up and ran away. We found it on the next day and I was really happy that we did it. The bullet went off just above the spine and near the hind legs. If I hit in 10 sm lower or upper we needn’t look for it. The horns’ sizes were 132 and 133 sm.To get Ibex was much easier. I shot from the distance 192 m and hit to its spine. The Ibex fell from the rock but didn’t damage its’ horns. It wasn’t big but I liked it (90 sm).We rode by horses a lot. Somedays we spent 10-14 hours in the saddle but all approaches were by foot. I used bullets Berger vld hunting 210 gr. Rifle Orsis -300 WM. Ballistic calculator – the shooter.Good luck on the hunts.
The hunt was organized with horses from the well-equipped hunting base. We spent some nights in the mountains in the tents because had to walk for a long distance from the base. We saw lots of animals each time when climbed to the mountains. I could get the Ibex with the horns 120sm at the first day but our guide Bahai ( experienced professional) advised to look for better one. On the day 5 we decided not to risk and harvested Ibex (119 sm) from the distance 360m, the height was 3500m.The owner and manager of the company Narbek Chindaliev don’t need ads. He has the line from the hunters who want to hunt with him.
After the hunt for Vercors Chamois I drove to the Chartreuse Mountains. Everything was organized pretty well. Great thanks to «Ovini expeditions” and “Stalker Group” for this hunt. I took the 27th trophy from the Capra List and 20th from GSCO List.
The hunt was organized very well. Very professional staff and great accommodation. I was surprised by the number of animals. Great thanks to «Ovini expeditions” and “Stalker Group” for this hunt
In August 2017 I set an ambitious goal to get 5 species of sheep to the end of year. A year before I took the trophy of the Kamchatka Snow sheep and was going to get other permitted species in this season. I flew to Okhotsk dreaming about it. The plan was to start the hunt on August 5 because it took me about 2 days to get from Ekaterinburg to the habitat of Kolyma Snow Sheep. The first point in our trip was Okhotsk and we did it on purpose. We planned to fly by helicopter from Okhotsk to Magadan where were going to get the Kolyma Snow Sheep and then to move to the Okhotsk region and to bag the Okhotsk Snow Sheep. But weather changed our plans. We couldn’t fly from Okhotsk at the same day and staid for a night there. I spent it in the local hostel which reminded me of my College years. It looked like the student’s hostel in my youth, had green-painted walls, shared shower on the floor and three beds in the room. I felt nostalgia by my carefree life of the Soviet student. There was the watchwoman, very picturesque and friendly lady, who helped me. The cost for that place was very symbolic. Next morning we flew to the hunting area. The captain our air vessel (helicopter) was Vitaliy Yurievich very professional and nice guy. Thanks a lot for that flight. It took us and hour and a half to get to the place and landed. Moreover we had time to examine the surroundings. We didn’t see any sign of sheep but heard two shots. It was in 300 km from the town! Those places looked untouched by civilization and we were surprised to hear such sounds. There were the local nomads. Day #2. The hunt had started. I, our guides Nikolay and Dmitry and my cameraman Alexander hiked about 20 km and climbed 1200 meters. We saw several groups of young males, 3-4 years old but were not interested in such trophies. The day finished without any result. The third day was also over but the words of the guide who detected the group of trophy males gave us hope. We decided to go there next day. Day #4. We'd reseached all area where the sheep were seen before but didn’t find. They went to another place. We spotted young males and found some old tracks. The result of that day was that we hiked 30.5 km and ascended 1900 meters. We’d been everywhere! We crossed the habitat of the sheep backwards and forwards and overcame 138 km and climbed a total 1900 metes. My demand to the trophy’s quality decreased by the each km and each day. I think that you know how it could be.Each time when I came back to the camp with empty hands the only thought was why I hadn’t shot the male which we saw before although they weren’t not big.I still don’t know what has happened that time. One of the reason could be that the shots which we heard scared the sheep or it could be the helicopter which brought us to the camp. You know that sometimes animals being afraid of something can move to 5-10 km. We found their tracks but didn’t see the animals.Day#6. We concluded that had to take any trophy which the mountains would allow to give us. Soon we met the herd lead by the male of Kolyma Snow Sheep. It wasn’t big but had average size. I decided to get it immediately. The shooting distance was 515 m. It wasn’t huge as my desire to get it. Time was running out and we did it.After achieving that goal we went back to the camp and moved to the next place for the Okhotsk Snow Sheep. But this is another story and I’ll tell about it in the next report.P.S. I came the conclusion that my goal to get 5 trophies to the end of the year was very ambitious. The start was very hard. I had counted on the fast hunt, filled with just the positive emotions but it didn’t happen. Looking ahead I will say that we’d met lots of tough surprises. I was too arrogant and confident that those mountains were much easier than the Caucasus ones. But now I realize that was much luckier on the Caucasus. The mountain relief on the Far East is more difficult. It consists of the moving, rolling stones and you have to check each step or can hurt. But in any case, I’ve got my trophy and we go on!Thank you very much to Alexander Malkov, who organized this hunt and did everything that we felt comfortable. Accommodation, food and logistic were well organized all guides and other staff were very professional.
The hunt was organized in the period from 30th of September to 9th of October, 2017.Our goal was to get the Caucasus Chamois, Kuban Tur and Mid Caucasus Tur.30.09. We rode by horses five hours to the first camp. There I got the first trophy Mid-Caucasus Chamois ( 16 years old). We couldn’t hunt few days from the 1st to 4th of October, the weather was awful – fog, snow and hail, the temperature was -10C. On October,2 we rode once again to the second hunting camp. I harvested Kuban Tur on the last day of our stay in the its inhabit. It was 7 years old male.06.10. We went down and it took us eleven hours, then drove to the new hunting place. Unfortunate two days of the nice hunt weren’t enough to take the trophy. We trekked each day about 20 km but couldn’t find the male. I’ll come back in 2018.
Next trip I spent with my friends and flew by the invitation of my friend Igor Dontsov. I arrived a little bit later than the guys. They were lucky to get snow sheeps. Due to the lack of time, I decided to hunt on the moose and on the reindeer. Me and Sergey Uspensky marсhed on the mountain hills searching for the deers. We managed to find two amazing males, resting on the plateau. Next day I took two moose, when moved along the river. I managed to take amazing trophies in two days. The weather was nice. The days were sunny.
After the end of the hunt in France, I flew to Valencia to hunt on Iberian Mouflon. The area of the hunt was close to Valencia city, near Ayora and Confrentes towns. It was private lands with opened territory, what is important for this trophy. There are a lot of closed farms in Spain. The trophy, taken in such area can’t be counted in the rating of CMH. We have seen a lot of sheeps at the first day, but I tried to make as comfortable shot as it was possible due to the reason of uncertainty in the rifle, given by the organizers. To make the story short, I overtook the luck at that day and it turned out from me finally. I have also taken a very nice trophy of the red deer. Local ranger was surprised, that such a good trophy male appeared in the lands, however, he gave a signal for shooting. The next day tactics repeated. Early get up, going to the lands. Even the parking site was the same in the forest. The route was the same as well. After 300 meters of walk we have seen a male standing on the distance 110 meters from us. Direct shot in to the heart stopped the sheep and he could run for about 60 meters.
I hunted for the Kuban Tur and Chamois in the Arkhyz region Karachayevo-Circassian Republic. It took us three hours’ drive from Mineralnye Vody to Arkhyz. We accommodated in the comfortable hotel, located in the ski resort Romantic. It’s a new one. Next morning we drove to the Base camp which consisted of cabins with beds and sinks inside. Then we rode by horses to the hunting area. I got Kuban Tur (which looked like Mid Caucasus Tur because of the horns). It was 13 years old male with horns 81.5 sm. The shooting distance was 30m but I shot at a steep angle down. Also I got 5 years old Chamois (distance 100m). Thank you very much to Ali and Ivan and all team of the hunting company AK-KIA.
