We congratulate the editor of our magazine “The Magic of real Safari” Vladimir Tikhomirov with his 80th Anniversary. Vladimir is the passionate and very experienced hunter.  He is the author of many articles devoted to the hunting weapon and is the well-known expert in this sphere. The new edition of  Hunting Rules (should be verified in 2020) was discussed on the meeting of interfractional group responsible for the question of the legislation in the wildlife sphere  of the State Duma. It has been offered to add the final version  new norms which allow to test shotguns in the hunting lands. The rules, negotiated with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Rosgvardia, will look so: "The process of testing shotguns is closely connect with the hunter’s responsibility to have serviceable hunting weapons. Checking how the weapon works and shotguns testing have to be done in the specially equipped shooting ranges or in the hunting lands during the hunting season if the hunter has all necessary permits and documents which allow him to hunt. The hunter should have to comply with security measures to prevent the possibility of harm to  people or animals".

By Executive Order of the President of Russia from 27.12.2019 № 622 “ About Russian Federation National Award”, Bernard Loze, the vice –president of the General Eurasian People’s Assembly, was awarded by the Order of Friendship for the strengthening of cooperation between peoples. Bernard Loze is the Honorary President Of the international Council for hunting and wildlife protection CIC, the passionate hunter and the sincere friend of Russia. The CMH congratulates Mr. Bernard with this well-deserved reward!

Ivan Alexandrovich Yufkin  died on the hunt in the  Karachay-Circassian Republic. The accident had happened on January 11th,2020. All Club members knew him like the very professional outfitter and remarkable man.  We express our deep condolences to the family members and friends of Ivan Alexandrovich.

We guess that some of our members have met each other during the year but for the most of us, that  New Year Party, organized at the end of the year, is the only opportunity to meet friends and to find the new ones. This year our traditional meeting took place on December 18th  in the yacht-restaurant “Chaika”. The hall was full and it was not matter where our Club’s members live. Sergey Masurkevich arrived from Yekaterinburg, Spiridon Starostin from Yakutia, then Igor Dontsov arrived from Magadan. There were also many members of the club from foreign countries-Mongolia, Belarus, Azerbaijan and others. The world mountain hunting legend Hussein Golabchi from USA participated in our new year's eve party for the second time. There were several famous Russian hunters among our guests and one of them Alexander Egorov had published his book  “Anatomy of hunting” in the last year. He describes his hunting experience and shares thoughts about hunting. Sergey Yastrzhembsky, who visited the party, just returned from the successful hunt in Canada. Now he’s working on the film “The shot of hope” , we all wait for. The chief of the hunting department of the Ministry of Natural resources  Andrey Filatov, the President of hunting Association “Rosohotrybolovsouz” Tatiana Armileva and the President  Safari Club  Leonid Sonin  made welcome speeches. The Russian trophy hunting club  Safari celebrated its 25th anniversary last year. Lots of its members became the members of our Club too and we could see them on that party.  It was pleasure to see among our guest the representatives of the High-precision shooting Federation of Russia. We could hardly to list all guest from other hunting organizations who joined us that evening. The President of our Club Edward Bendersky opened the evening  and talked about the achievements for 2019 and  future projects. The Club of Mountain Hunters was established on March 5th, 2015. Today we have 762 members (there were 520 members last year), who take active part in the club’s activities.  We want to remind our readers that any of you can register online and to join our society. It's free and you don't need to pay any fee. It’s no matter if you hunt now or just dream about mountains and hunting. The club members publish their hunting reports which you can find in the section “Reports”. There are about 1200 hunting stories and the new ones appear each day. You can check the interactive ranking list which works for a year already. It changes each time when the club member add new information  concerning the trophies from the  CMH list. Today 79 hunters take part in creating this ranking.  Last year there were just 52 participants.  Edward Bendersky informed the guests about the suspension of the project “Chamois in Crimea”. Such decision was made on the results of two scientific expeditions and the scientists recommendations.  There are not the historical proves the chamois habitat in Crimea. As for the next project concerning the breeding of chamois and Bezoar Ibex in the Northern Ossetia, the scientists has developed the population recovery program for those animals. The execution will be done on the base of the designed breeding nursery(under development). He also shared very interesting information about the scientific and hunting expedition, devoted to the snow sheep research, on the north of Yakutia (Kharaulakh ridge). In 2019, the CMH funded the participation of Arsen Dotsev , the scientist from the  all-Russian Institute of animal husbandry at the VII world conference on mountain ungulates in Montana (USA).  It takes place one time in three years. The participants of last year conference were 141 scientist from 14 countries. Arsen made a presentation on genetic research that fundamentally changes the idea of intraspecific diversity of snow sheep. He used the genetic materials collected and provided by the hunters form our club during their trips to Yakutia and to the Far East of Russia. In order to support educational activities, the CMH financed the publication of the " dictionary of the Russian hunting language” ( the result of  years of painstaking work of Elizabeth Selehovoj) and article’s series “ Hunting which protects Natura”.  These editions added to the “Library of mountain hunter”.  The CMH began to take active part in the legislative activity, we took the initiatives connected with hunting development and wildlife reserve. 1. On July 23,2019 the deputies group submitted  the bill to the State Duma, which allows to increase the validity of a hunting permit from 5 to 15 years. The project is currently being prepared for consideration in 1 reading. 2. From July 24th, 2019 the inter-factional working group, led by V. Reznik, began the  improvement of legal regulation in the field of hunting and conservation of wildlife resources. 3. On August 2, 2019 was published the law which allows hunters to use bows and crossbows in Russia, starting from January 30th,2020 4. One more law was published on August 2nd, 2019. It cancels the practice when hunting users paid twice if use the object of the animal world in one year. 5. On October 10, 2019 the deputy’s group introduced the ordinance to the State Duma which allows to rent hunting arms for hunting, including foreigners and citizens of Russia who are 16 years old or older. Currently, the text of the bill is being clarified based on comments received, and preparations are being made for consideration in the 1st reading. 6. On December 11, 2019, at the plenary session of the State Duma, the draft law on the possibility of hunting for animals located in semi-voluntary conditions was adopted in 1 reading (the concept was approved). The project will continue to be finalized at the beginning of 2020. The СMH Committee works on  improvement the reward system. The most anticipated part of the party after the auction was the  awarding of  CMH prizes to Club’s members  based on the results of  2019. Edward Bendersky reminded us about the 5th anniversary of our magazine “The Magic of Real Safari”.  The  memorable ceramic plaquette was made for this special purpose.  The authors of the magazine were awarded  by special plaquette “ The Star on the Walk of Fame”. Two of them were awarded in absentia to our regular authors Sergey Gorobets (for publications about the  participation of High Persecution Shooting of Russia  in international sports competitions) and Mikhail Shukis ( the article series about African and arms). One more plaquette was given to Sergey Yastrzhembsky for the recognition of his literary achievements. He writes for the magazin during all five years. All articles are very interesting and full of information. Today we have fourteen writes who have “The Star on the Walk of Fame” from our magazine. The hunt is organized from August 1st to November 30th in the Bulunsky province of Yakutia. The capital of the province is the small town Tiksi 71°38'26.10"N; 128°53'28.94"E   The hunt takes place in 180 km from Tiski to the south-western direction near the mountain river Agra Uryakh: 69°59'40.2"N 131°21'11.7"E   There are two ways to get to the hunting area   -by land: we used the rented ATV GAZ -by air: helicopter Mi-8   The Russian cellular operators which work in Tikis are Megafon, MTS, Beeline.   The price for the trip with one licenses is 600K rub.   It includes. •           We guarantee that you’ll get the trophy with the horn not less than 90 sm. •           Accommodation in the hunting base. Vladimir Putin- the President of Russian Federation signed the law which allows the citizens of Russia to use bows and crossbows for hunting. The relevant document was published on the official portal of legal information.

The State Duma has adopted in the final reading the Law “About the amendments to the “Weapon Law” and to the Article 1 of the Federal law “About the Hunt and the Conservation of the Hunting resources. The initiative belongs to the members of MHC to Egorov A.A., Reznik V. M. and Shaikhutdinov R.G.. The amendments have been made to legislative acts and concern the regulation of the projectile weapon. The Bill suggests to change the meaning of the “projectile weapon” and sets that such weapon which is intended to hit a target at the distance, with the usage of human muscular force (a ranged weapon), as well as weapon made to hit the target with projectiles, thrown with the use of mechanical energy (projectile small arms); The following concepts are introduced: A projectile weapon it is a mechanical device that converts the energy of deformation of elastic elements into directed motion (throwing) of a projectile towards a target located at a distance. The citizenry are prohibited to use this kind of weapon for self-defense. The Missile – is the device which consists of a striking, bearing and stabilizing elements, or an object which has properties intended for mechanical destruction of a target located at a distance as a result of throwing from a projectile weapon. The throwing weapon is intended to the mechanical damage of the target only with the usage of the human muscle power (a throw). A hunting ranged weapon without the fixation of the elastic elements which are in the tension (bow) with the bow arc power more than 27 kgs or with the fixation elements (crossbow) with the arc power more than 43 kgs. You do not need a license to purchase them (not more than 5 pieces and you have to be the citizen of the Russian Federation) but have to register it in Rosgvardia. The citizen without the hunting ticket and the permission to storage and carrying of hunting weapons are prohibited to buy a ranged weapon. A hunting ranged weapon and missiles to it are included to the hunting implements in the Federal Law. The citizens with the membership hunting tickets are not allowed to buy sport and hunting weapon, such as smooth-bore, long-barreled weapons and hunting air guns and hunting ranged weapon. The obligatory demands to the hunting ranged weapon and missiles and the evaluation forms would be settled in accordance with technical regulation of the Russian Federation. All missiles and weapon produced on the territory of the Russian Federation, imported into the Russian Federation and exported from the Russian Federation will be subject to mandatory conformity assessment. The Federal Law will enter into force 180 days after its official publication date S. V. Yastrzhembskiy supported the adoption of this Law.

The shooting competitions “Mountain Line 2019” was held!The shooting competition “Mountain Line 2019” was held on June 15th. It’s very popular among the Club’s members. The event was organized by our partner The Federation of high-precision shooting of Russia. The competition was timed to the beginning of the hunting season and all hunters had the opportunity to hone the skill of accurate shooting, needed for the mountain hunts.This year was the first one when one of the competitor was a young lady.
