At the beginning of December I was hunting chamois in Slovenia. The weather was favourable. The hunt took place on a small private farm on the border with Austria. It was the first time I hunted a mountain animal from a hunting tower. As I was told, the snow at the beginning of December forces the animals to move deeper into the forest zone. There, in the couloirs of the mountains, they build towers on small rocks with maximum visibility. We set off in the dark, walking along the streambed for about 700 metres. Then we climbed 200 metres up the path. And there we were! At dawn we saw three animals, two females and a juvenile, about 350 metres from us. "Far away" - said the huntsman - "we will wait"). Then two more chamois came out, closer, 270 metres away. "We'll wait some more," was the huntsman's reply. And on the cliff opposite, illuminated by the morning sun, there it was, out of nowhere, an Ibex! The shot at 157 metres was not difficult. I shot with klb 300 wm. I am 100% satisfied with the hunt!
