On March 22, a regular meeting of the Club's Commission for trophies and awardswas held

Dear members of the Mountain Hunters Club!On March 22, 2021, a regular meeting of the Club's Commission for trophies and awards took place. A number of important decisions were made at the meeting.1. The updated version of the Regulation on the Club's Commission for trophies and awards was approved. You can familiarize yourself with the Regulations on the KGO website2. An award of the Club "For Merit" has been established; the Regulations on the new award can also be found on the KGO website3. Emphasizing its commitment to the principles of ethical nature conservation hunting, the Club from 01.08.2021 accepts trophies with a minimum age of 7 years for registration in the KGO rating lists. If it is impossible to directly determine the age from a photograph of a trophy, you can additionally confirm the age with a measuring sheet (for example, SCI), a prey permit, if the age of the animal is indicated in it, and measurement with video recording.4. When registering a trophy in the KGO rating lists, the hunter is obliged to provide a field photograph with the captured trophy. Otherwise (for example, the trophy was taken from hard-to-reach places after the departure of the hunter), the trophy does not participate in the rating.5. In the Hall of Fame on the Club's website, hunters are arranged in the order corresponding to the date of registration of the report, which gives the right to award an award of one level or another.6. To clarify the boundaries of the habitats of bighorn sheep (Koryak and Kolyma), namely, to draw a border between these forms along the valley of the Penzhina River.7. Expand the range of the hybrid bezoar goat to the entire territory of Turkey, taking as a basis in determining the possibility of registering a trophy as a hybrid bezoar goat its morphological qualities, and not its habitat.8. Consider the possibility of further expanding the range of the hybrid bezoar goat in other countries later, as the hunt for bezoar goat begins in these countries.9. When registering trophies of the Pamir and Central Asian mountain goats caught in Tajikistan, consider the place of extraction as the main criterion. Border between habitats: Vanj river valley.10. All changes concerning the specification of the ranges of species and subspecies will soon be reflected in the rating tables and / or in the accompanying information to them on the Club's website. We recommend that before traveling and booking a tour, check the location of the planned hunting area with the club's requirements for the place of extraction of this species. In addition, pay attention to morphological features that are mandatory for some species.

Results of the meeting of the Trophy Commission of the Mountain Hunters Club

Results of Trophy commission meeting. Dear Members of the Club of Mountain Hunters! The regular meeting of the Trophy commission of the CMH took place on February 9. A number of important decisions were made at the meeting. We need to remind that the rules for trophy registration have been changed. All applications (reports) have to be approved by the Trophy Commission. The filling accuracy of the report is of great importance. We ask you to pay attention to the following things: 1. It's necessary to verify the future hunting location with the with the club's requirements for the hunting region of this species. Will you pay attention to the to morphological features of the trophy that are obligatory for some species. 2. We draw attention to the need: a) To fill accuracy all info concerning the region and place of the hunt   Administrative units concern to the hunting location are regions, republics, states, provinces. The place where the trophy has been got includes geographic points - a gorge, a mountain range, the upper reaches of the river, the nearest village / village. b) To provide the high-quality pictures of trophies from the place where it has been got. 3. We should notify you that the Club commission reserves the right to connect with the legal unity or individuals, mentioned in the reports as the hunting outfitter, to clarify the details of the hunt or to ask for the hunting permit/license copy. The commission can refuse to register the trophy if there are not the necessary docs. Particular attention is paid to the species taken at an unspecified time or in countries / regions where hunting is not carried out on a regular basis. The hunting license is the mandatory requirement in such case. 4. The species included in the Red Book of Rare species of the Russian Federation and the other regions of the Russian Federation at the time when they have been hunted are not accepted for registration. All other reports, published before, have been checked by the Trophy Commission for compliance with these requirements. The Trophy Commission will send individual information letters to those Club members, in whose report’s inconsistencies have been identified. We kindly ask you to bear with them and to make any necessary adjustments to the reports. If the changes influence the ratings of the hunter and his trophy awards, we'd provide him the opportunity to hunt that trophy once again in the next three years.   Taking into account that hunting with a bow and a crossbow is legally allowed in Russia and in order to popularize this type of hunting, the Club considers it necessary to highlight a trophy got with a bow or crossbow with a special sign. In addition, the rating points for those trophies will be rated with a coefficient of 2.

Hussein Golapchi passed away

Hussein Golapchi passed away

Hossein Goalapchi, known among all hunters as Sudi, passed away on January 22. Sudi Golapchi was born in Iran where he started his hunting career at 16 years old. He remembered that being a boy, he had got there much more sheep than he had to because hunted for meat not for trophies. In 1980, Sudi emigrated to the United States. Later he became the owner of the very successful company Golmar Construction and Development Co. in Augusta and became interested in trophy hunting all over the world. He got the collection of Grand Slams. In 1990 he felt in love with hunting for Marco Polo in Tajikistan. Jury Matisson became his friend whom he visited several times in a year, flying to Pamir. There is not another man who has hunted for Marco Polo more than Sudi. Almost each year he got the argali with horns more than 60 inches! He’s hunted mountain ungulates in all possible destination in the world, and has lots of world records and trophies from the TOP 10 of the SCI Record Book. In 2004, he became one of five people in the world who got Ovis World Slam Super 40. In 2012 he’s got Capra World Slam Super 30 and one from these trophies Mid Asian Ibex from Tajikistan is the world record. In 2013 Hussein Golapchi won SCI World Conservation and Hunting Award. At home, in Georgia he established the Museum where presented his trophy collection. It consists of about five hundred animals from all over the world which presents more than 200 different species. Many hunters want to get high results in the trophy hunting but not all of them choose legal ways. But everybody who knew Hossein Golapchi confirm that he was exceptionally decent in this respect. The CMH expresses its sincere condolences to the family, friends and acquaintances of Hussein Sudi Golabchi. We will remember his extraordinary personality and the memory of him will always remain in our hearts.

About hunting tourism

About hunting tourism

The new changes to the “Guns law” will go into effect on March 9,2021. They will change the gun’ transport procedure from permissive to the notification type for Russian hunters who are going to EurAsEC countries (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan) and will facilitate gun’s import to Russia for foreign hunters. In total the procedure for foreign hunters will stay the same. The hunters, who enter Russian Federation will have to get the gun’ permit issued by Rosgvardia. It has to be draw by the request on the inviting side - the Russian legal unity or a individual entrepreneur who has the hunting farm. The key amendment of the law is the possibility to register the gun import permit not by the local outfitters only and by the location where they are registered but by their authorized representatives (agencies) by the location where they are registered. It helps the owners of hunting farms to expand their possibilities to use the help of other professional hunting agents to register all necessary permits to attracts hunting tourists. I’d attract your attention to the fact that all hunting agents have to comply with the laws not only the “Guns law” but also the Advertising and touristic laws. The last example is when the Profi Hunt company has published the ads about hunting in Sudan where guaranteed 100% of success. https://kgo-club.ru/stati/item/ohota-v-sudane-s-profihant.html). We know about the situation in the country where all trophy hunts were prohibited there during the last years, the number of animals’ populations had reduced, the hunting agencies changed. Nowadays the foreign hunters can’t import and hunt with their own guns. The ads published on behalf of a non-existent legal entity mislead the hunters and affects the norms of administrative and criminal legislation. https://www.rusprofile.ru/id/4072627 That entity is not the outfitter and can't provide the financial support of responsibility https://tourism.gov.ru/operators/ In other words, the Russian hunting companies have two months to prepare for innovations, to sign the relevant agreements with hunting estates owners, to develop appropriate trips, and to prepare promotional materials for foreign hunters. The companies who advertise 100% success can use this time to check their compliance to the requirements of the legislation. The professional organization of hunting expeditions and high-quality service can increase the demand for this kind of hunting from foreign hunters and hunters from Russia. It’ll give an impetus to the further development of the entire hunting industry in Russia.

Few years ago we supported the translation and the publication in Russian two-volume Atlas with the detailed information about hundreds of species, inhabitant in the mountains. The Club’s members together with the Institute of Animal Husbandry actively collect the samples of biological material to continue the scientific work to clarify of the gene pool of wild goats and sheep and heir biological classification. We are going to implement the project which will help to reproduce the population of the Bezoar goat and Caucasian chamois in the North Caucasus mountains. We plan to build the hatchery for breeding these species. All-Russian Research Institute of Environmental Protection “Ecology” (Federal state budgetary institution) did a great job and prepared the scientific program by the Bezoar Goat. The program for Caucasian chamois was developed together with the Department of state policy and regulation in the field of hunting and Federal state budgetary institution "Federal center for hunting development" of the Ministry of natural resources of the Russian Federation. LLC “DeerLand” has already developed the project of the hatchery in accordance with the highest international standards. This company, as the contractor of the project, provides the entire complex of preparatory and construction works. An agreement was signed on the construction of a hatchery for breeding chamois and Bezoar goats

On September 15th three sides signed the agreement on the construction of a hatchery for breeding chamois and bezoar goats. They are the Fund of Development of the mountain hunting established by the Club of Mountain Hunters, Federal state budgetary institution "Nalchinsky state experimental hunting farm "(Kabardino-Balkaria) and Limited liability company "DeerLand". The aim of the project is to breed and to release animals into the wild what helps to improve the number of populations of these species. LLC “DeerLand” has already developed the project of the hatchery in accordance with the highest international standards. Congratulations to Alexander Egorov on awarding the Weatherby!

Congratulations to Alexander Egorov on awarding the Weatherby!

Breaking news! We congratulate Alexander Egorov with getting the most prestige hunting award - “Weatherby”. People all around the world, who are keen of hunting and shooting sport, remember Roy Weatherby for his innovation in the weapons industry. Lots of people remember him for his active support of the wildlife protection projects and ethics of sport hunting. Today, the Weatherby Foundation International continues, on behalf of all hunters, the noble endeavors of Roy Weatherby. Roy Weatherby left an indelible mark on the weapons industry. His story began in 1942, when he took part in the deer hunting at the first time and wounded the animal. It made him to think about the more effective way of hunting. From that time he started to change the ballistic characteristics of the weapon and defended the usage of light bullets at ultra-high speeds with maximum energy. It became the base of Weatherby Magnum. Roy Weatherby died in 1988, 45 years after he started his way of looking for the more effective way of hunting. Over the past four decades, he has changed forever our perception of the firearms. The mission of the Weatherby Foundation International is to inform the youth and public at large about the charity role of ethics hunting sports, about its’ contribution to the protection of the wildlife and to protect our constitutional rights to do it. The Foundation goes on to cooperate with different international organization which develop and support the practical educational events. This is one of the few noncommercial foundation which has focused its activity and financial support on educational projects in other spheres. The Foundation is the only sponsor of the prestige Weatherby Hunting and Conservation Award for the achievements in the hunting and wildlife support projects. The award is given, annularly from 1956, to one individual for outstanding support for wildlife conservation, lifetime hunting achievements, and commitment It happens on the annual Gala - dinner. The charity auction is held at this event. The outfitters and equipment producers donate their goods and services to collect funds for grants. It’s not an easy matter to became the nominee of this award. The selection criteria are high.   The nominee has to send to the Committee all information concerning his hunting achievements. This part of the estimation takes about 65% from the total points and connects with the hunter’s achievements. The next factors are:  The number and diversity of the taken wild trophies; their quality, geographic locations (the trophies have to be taken from all continents) and the complexity of hunting. The next 20% of the total score is the information about his contribution of the wildlife protection and promotion of the positive role of hunting in the conservation of the wildlife. Each hunter, considered for the Weatherby award, has already contributed a lot in the international and local wildlife protection communities when has bought licenses, paid taxes and so. But the Committee recognizes only direct contributions to specific conservation programs.  The nominee donates to the specific environmental projects such as protection or the habitat restoration, distribution and/or repeated relocation of species under threat of extinction. The organizing Committee admits the importance of the nominee's activity in the promotion and the youth engagement into the programs, which promote the positive role of hunting. The last 15% from the total score gives the hunter’s individual features his ability to be a behave in the ethic way and his lifelong commitment to hunting. It’s important how he follows the local and international laws and agreements concerning hunting, his reputation and his commitment to the principals of the ethic hunting and the struggle against poaching.  This year it was the 63th Weatherby Award. There were five nominee in this year: Alexander Egorov, Bela Hidvegi, Jay link, Eduardo Negrete and Dr. Doug Yayko According to the decision of the organizing Committee Alexander was recognized as the winner in 2020. He is the first winner from Russia. We congratulate Alexander Egorov with this Award and wish him new hunts and trophies!

Congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the Irkutsk school of Game Biology!

Congratulations on the 70th anniversary of the Irkutsk school of Game Biology!

The Club of Mountain Hunters congratulate the Irkutsk school of Game biologists Of the state agrarian University named after A. A. Ezhevsky (Irkutsk state agrarian UNIVERSITY). The story of the game biologists’ courses started in 1927. The Siberian land administration at Irkutsk University initiated the establishment of courses for the specialists in hunting. Dorogostaiskii V.G. made the great contribution to the development of that idea. He worked together with the ethnographer Petri B. E. and the forest zoologist Gagarin N.A. They gave lectures and conducted practical classes with students. The first course consisted of 20 students. It included such well-known biologists as Zharov V.K, Vladimirov K.A. and Khudyakov P.I. In 1930 the courses got the status of the Fur and Raw materials Institute of hunting cooperation which entered to the Moscow Fur and Raw materials Institute in 1934. The management of the Institute realized the low effectiveness of the study, organized far from the hunting area. Later in 1950 it was transfered to Irkutsk and became the part of the zoological faculty in the State Agrarian University. The famous scientist Skalon V. N. became the mastermind of that idea. It took him two years to find and attract experienced scientists to join the teachers’ team. They were Zarov V.K., Khudyakov P.I., Timofeiv V.V., Litvinov N.I., Krasnyi N.M., Gagarina T. N., Klyatis B.D., Sviridov N.S. Starting from 1954, 100 students entered the Game Biology faculty each year.   Till 1967 the graduates got the diplomas of Game Biologist. Thanks to Sviridov N.S and Bentchen P.I. The faculty of Game Biology was established in the 1st of January, 1968 and all graduates started to train the Game Biology program. The new departments of animals and birds biology, hunting farm management and zoology were opened. That was a boost for Game Biology Museum development. It was directed by such specialists as Sadkov V.S., Ogorodnikov L. I., Melnikova N. I, Zargebin A.A, Kudashev A.V. The educational and experimental farm, formed in 1961, became the practical base for the next students generations. Nowadays the farm “Goloustnoe” has an area of 120 thousand hectares. The Council for defense of dissertations started to work at 70s and more than 30 candidates defended their dissertations there. The scientific game biology school worked very actively. At 90s there were more than 60 theses were defended there. Annually the faculty organizes the international conferences concerning the prospects of hunting industry. The faculty accepts for practice and to collect of the scientific data students and professors from other countries such as Germany, Poland, France and several Russian Universities. More than 7000 game biologists graduated the faculty from the time is was established more than 70 years ago. Most of them develop the hunting industry of Siberia, the Far East of Russia and other counties of CIS. They play the important role in protection of wild nature diversity of our countries. The Club has very close contacts with the Game Biology faculty and its graduates. We hope to continue our cooperation in future. We wish new scientific and creative achievements to the faculty staff and its graduates! The president of the Club of Mountain Hunters. Edward Bendersky.

Congratulations by Alexey Kim from GSCO

We are pleased to recognize Alexey Kim (Russia) for achieving his Capra World Slam Super 20. Alexey has been very busy hunting the world’s wild goats lately. In 2018 and 2019 alone he took a total of 14 of his 23 Capra species. Alexey traveled to Nepal in 2018 and was successful in collecting a Himalayan tahr. His impressive Cantabrian chamois was taken on a hunt in Spain and he connected on a Persian desert ibex in Iran, also in 2018. Alexey reached the Capra Super 20 on a hunt in Greece when he got a Kri-Kri (hybrid) ibex. GRAND SLAM CLUB / OVIS
