Desert Bighorn Sheep

It was my second trophy of the Desert Bighorn Sheep, Nelson sub-species. The MHC doesn’t separate these species yet though GSCO did it a year ago. The hunt was organized in the state Utah. The whole landscape reminded the Grand Canyon and it wasn’t far from that place.I can say that It wasn’t difficult because the sheep there aren’t afraid of people and its’ density is high enough. Thank you very much to Ilya Dmitriev. We felt ourselves like pioneers in that place because there weren’t Russian hunters yet.

Hunt for Siberian Ibex in the Sayan Mountains

The hunt in Krasnoyarsk Krai was organized by Profi Hunt company in October, 2015. The hunting area belonged to Idzhir company. After 4 hours flight I arrived to Abakan, then we drove 2 hours to Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power and went 4 hours upstream the Yenisei River by the high speed boat. At last we arrived to the main lodge. We spent there the first night and rose to the next base which was located on the height 1680 masl. The ascend took us 3.5 hours. We watched some groups of males while climbing. It was the third hunt when I met wolves. I fired the wolf form the distance 680m and missed, they ran away but not far. We heard wolves howl at night. At the first day when we were hiking Vladimir detected two males which grazed on the slope and we decided to approach them later. After a shot rest I tried to reach the males. It took us just 20 minutes, the animals stayed on the same place where we had seen them. I got my 12 years old trophy by the first shot,  from the distance 150 m. It was quick and easy hunt. Next morning we came back to the lodge. It was my 31st trophy from the MHC’s List “ World Ibexex”.

Hunt for Afghan Urial

We found this Urial at the end of the second day. It lay on the stones under the tree shadow near the cliff edge.  Only its back was opened.  I shot from the distance 460m. It was the accurate shot and the male fell from the cliff. We found it next day damaged by other animals. The measurement result is 141.5 point by the SCI system. The trophy takes 6 position in the SCI List. Thank you very much to everybody who helped me to organize this hunt.

Mid-Asia Ibex harvested in Kyrgyzstan and Tian Shan Argali

Me and Evgeny Haritonov, with whom I hunted more the two dozen times, arrived to Bishkek. At the end of the day we reached the base camp in the Kumtor region and spent the night there. Next day we rode to the hunting area, it took us 6 hours. We made the camp on the height 3900m. In the morning we all trek to the place where some trophy males were seen before. In two hours of climbing we noticed them. I shot from 100-130 m, the height was 4200m. My trophy became 10 years old male. In two day I got 8 years old Tian Shan Agrali. The distance was 350m. My appreciation for the professional work to the guides Vladimir, Andrey and Koi-Chu. Many thanks to Evegeny Haritonov.

The first hunt for Dagestan Tur

The competitions finished in the Sunday evening and all people said goodbye and went home. And only I, thanks to Abdullah, was waiting for the hunt. I waited it much more than the competition because it’d be my first hunt for the Dagestan Tur. It was rainy on Monday and we spent that day sitting at home. On Tuesday though the weather wasn’t still well we decided to pack all goods and drive to the temporary camp after lunch. The camp belonged to shepherds in the Charodynsky region near the mountain's foot not far from the area where we had to hunt. It was still rainy while we were driving. When we arrived the Main Shepherd declared that they caught and cooked the lamb specially for us. The hospitality of the Caucasian people couldn’t help but surprise. Our friends Shamil and Andrey arrived later, put the tents and we all went to sleep, but the thoughts about the upcoming hunt bothered me to do it for a long.  On Wednesday morning it was rainy once again. We sat in the tents all day and visited each other to drink some tea. Fortunately in the next day the weather was fine, our mood too and we moved to the mountains. The horses like people needed to have good shoes, we'd nailed the new horseshoes, collected things and rode to the top.  I couldn’t help but admire the beauty of nature, its springs full of trout and peaks covered by snow. But my high mood didn’t last long. The lead clouds hid the sun, the sky became dark and small drops of the rain changed to the real element. The ground became limp, horses began to get stuck in the mud and fall, though we rode up only three hundred meters above the sea level. Being in a hurry we unsaddled horses, camped and being soaked to the skin ran to the tents. Abdullah had the gas stove and we tried to dry the clothes but the humidity was so high that it had zero the effect. Our friends drank some “local medicine”, they called it “The Shepherd’s death” but just for the medical purpose.I was close to have nervous breakdown. It was rainy at the day, snowy at night, all clothes washed wet and none of the chance that the weather would change. Laying at night in the semi-wet sleeping bag I thought about further actions. The first way was to give it up, go down in the morning and try once again in another time, the second one was to get up in the morning, put on even wet clothes and go to the mountains. On Friday morning we all woke up very early because we didn't have the strength to sit in the camp anymore and the nature made as the gift. The sun shone brightly, there wasn’t any cloud on the sky and our mood was on the upper level. When we had breakfast , one of us noticed the female with two cubs on the opposite slope. They were curious or just realized the we were not dangerous and came to us at 170m and slowly stepped near us. We treated this case as a good sign. I felt sure in professional knowledge of Shamil and Abdullah. We began to pack things and I customized the rest. So we went ahead! Abdullah stayed at the camp, Shamil and his nephew rode by horse and we three followed behind them, like the infantry. My body, relaxed by the Caucasus hospitality, good meat and the goat’s cheese, was shocked by climbing. Our guide Daud wanted to show his climbing training and leaded us not at the easiest way. We were climbing to the mountain, clinging to the sharp stones with the hands. I looked back and understood that there wasn't way back. I clung harder and harder, fortunately this extreme trip was short enough, like my physical condition. The liver wanted to leave the body and the heart knocked in the brain. At that moment I wanted to have not the backpack where I had lots of things which I didn't need but to have the balloon with Nitrox (enriched oxygen mixture, used by divers). Andrey began to console me, saying the second breath would open soon. Probably It opened when I reached the top. The nature changed each ten meters, I saw how we crossed the clouds level and they were under our feet, these pictures pleased me who were not spoiled by the mountain beauties. We rose to 3200m and divided into two groups. Andrey and Daud went to the one side, I walked with Shamil. We went 100m up and occurred on the top of the peak in the heavy fog. I imagined that I was on another planet .There wasn’t any fauna on it, just lifeless stones and fog. The Kestrel showed 330 height and the wind 6 m/sec. While I was studying the weather data , the guides put some salt with mineral for goats. I was upset and thought that we couldn’t hunt today, It was nearly impossible to see something in such fog. The rangefinder didn’t work in such conditions. The thought that tomorrow I had to climb once again made me sad. After the layout of the treats for the cherished animals we moved along the ridge, carefully looking out in the hope to see the silhouettes of animals.Shamil who had sharp ears and was very experienced noticed the female with cubs which had the rest not far from us, but we looked for the males. I can confess now when everything is over that after such a marathon in the mountains any animal which belonged to Tur’s family was a good trophy. We made a stope to gaze at the animals and continued walking. We trekked more hundred meters and peeked from the gorge with the hope to see the desired Trophy. There we detected the herd of turs , about fifteen females and cubs I approached them trying to find males and saw some more females. Where were males? Shamil calmed me that they’d come back later in the evening and suggested to wait. So we stayed at that place, made pictures and talked. Suddenly Shamil as if he felt something looked out the gorge and said that three males came. I crawled to the edge of the top and watched three males who laid in front of us. How many meters?- said Shamil. I got up the rangefinder and measured the distance. It was 560m. The guide asked me if I wanted to fire. I was full of emotions and said YES! I crawled to the very edge of the rock and took the comfortable position, laid with the head down. In a few minutes I felt that the blood rushed to it. I checked distance, degrees, made some corrections and was ready for a shot. I waited when Shamil would command to shoot. But he asked which goat I’d chosen. "The one which is far then others, it's looked bigger"-it was my reply. "No, – answered Shamil,- Shoot the nearest one, It has bigger horns, dark color and its meat will have much fat. I wasn’t interested in meat at all but relied on his experience. So I was ready. Shoot!- I'd heard the command and fired immediately. The gun gave return and we heard the specific sound when the bullet hit the aim. I looked through the sight and found that my Tur laid motionless and other animals ran away. “ You got it! You are the Man! Five points!”- shouted Shamil with the Caucasus accent and send his nephew down to the goat.I was interested in the horns size and asked Shamil ‘s nephew to say it by radio. The young guy kept silence for a moment and then replied: “ How old? Probable 7-8 year.” And I remembered the conversation with my friend who told me that the best time to get trophy size Turn is October or November. But it wasn’t very important at that moment. Any trophy after such difficult climbing was the Prize for me and I ran down. I descended and started to account the rings on the horns. It was all I knew about trophy qualities. There were eleven of them and my mood rose sharply. Then, there was a photo session. The mood was at its peak, happiness was overwhelming me.While we were making pictures, Ramazan with horses came to us. Shamil and Ramazan cut the meat, put it to the bags and accurately put the skin with the head on the horse. We had the short lunch and were readly to moved back to the camp. I raised my head up and broke into a sweat, we would have to storm the mountain once again. But the physical state of horses were like mine, we went about ten meters then stopped to have a rest and restored breathing. Hunt in Dagestan is harder if I compare it with the hunt in Altay because of the landscape and especially small stones. We made one step forward, and immediately slid back. It took us about two hours to climb to the peak. We could see the camp from that place and I had opened the tenth breath. But we couldn’t go directly to the camp because Shamil was in the stakeout somewhere and his radio didn’t work. We checked all places where he could be but didn’t find and decided to return. It was easier to descend or probable the sight of my trophy gave me more strength but we walked directly to the Shepherd’s camp. It was rainy down the mountains but I didn’t pay attention to it. Even the volcano eruption could hardly spoil my mood. The mission was accomplished , I got the trophy. We loaded our luggage to the cars and drove to home. During our way to home we visited each member of our team and I was afraid that I’d never end. There was Wi-Fi at Shamil’s house and I shared pictures with my friends. At the deep night Abdula and me arrived to our stay.At noon of the next day we drove to Makhachkala and I was surprised by the hospitality and sincere emotions which our team members felt toward us. Everybody knew about our hunt already and I received lots of congratulations. We delivered the trophy to the taxidermist and he measured it’s size once again and send me sms. It was the reason why my high mood became ever higher. PS Thank you very much to Abdullah for that Prize in Dagestan completion, for this hunt. Thank you very much to Shamil for his professional knowledge of the area and the specific of the hunt. It helped me to get the trophy! Thank you to Ramazan, Shamil, Andrey for their company and help http://trophybook.ru/konkursnie-tablici/tur-kavkazskij/tur-kavkazskij-vostochnyj

Hunt for Dagestan Tur

I hunted at the beginning of October in the Rutulsky region in Dagestan. We rode by horses from the village Mikikh to the mountains. The first camp was set on the elevation of 3000 masl. It took us 4 hours to reach that position. In the morning we climbed 3400 masl and met the group of young males. It was foggy and we descended to the opposite slope (height 2700 masl) and camped. In the evening I watched lots of animals on the slopes. On Sunday at 5 am we ascended to the ridge and spotted the group of 15 males. I got my trophy by the first shot from the distance 580m but it fell to the abyss. We found it on the bottom of the canyon. We shot the wolf, while going down, from the distance 350m which hunted the sheep too.

Hunt for Yakutia and Okhotsk Snow Sheep

I booked hunt for Yakutia and Okhotsk Snow Sheep in Haborovsky Krai at autumn 2014. Also I was going to prey for the Reindeer, the Yakutia moose and the Far East bear. Konstantin Kalin and his friend Oleg met me at the Khabarovsk airport on September 13. Next day we all arrived to Okhotsk. The local outfitter Alexander Malkov met us there and we all flew by helicopter to the upper reaches of the Yudoma River where sheep were seen before. In the morning we came to the group of 7 sheep, one of which was very big. I shot from the distance 516m and missed! Next day it was rain and fog and we couldn’t hunt. On the day 4 the guides brought me to the group of 9 males and I made the mistake once again. I chose not the biggest one. I shot from 530m and got 9 years old sheep. We saw more than 30 male snow sheep during these days. The population of the Yakutia Snow Sheep is high there. Then we flew to the upper reaches of the Unchi River. We were going to hunt there for the Okhotsk Snow Sheep. It was rainy for two days. On the day 3 we went to hunt, found two groups of sheep and decided to approach the second one. I shot from the distance 100m and got nice 12 years old trophy. Also I harvested good trophies of the bear, moose and two reindeers. All animals came to the camp. I appreciated professional work of Alexander Malkov and his guides Nikolay and Sasha. Everything was perfect. Thank you very much to Konstantin Kalin and Oleg Abramov who organized this hunt. Special thanks to our cook Alexander who surprised us by his original dishes. I’ll remember tasteful sausages made from deer’s gut which Gendos, who companied me in all snow sheep hunts, took with him

Hunt for Mid-Caucasian Tur

I hunted in Karachay-Cherkessia, my goal was to take bigger trophy and I did it. The hunt was organized in such way that we left one of the assistant at the downstairs to direct us. It was rainy while we were climbing and we all dripped wet. Our assistants helped us to approach animals. My fellow fired from the distance 100m. I shot almost at close range, the distance was about 20 meters. I shot 3 times to the running male and two on bullets hit the aim. My trophy was a 10 years old male.

Hunt for Hangya Argali

The next hunt took place in Mongolia in September, 2015. It was organized by Profi hunt company and its Mongolian partners Tukso and Adjay. I got acquaintance with these guys a year ago and knew how professional they were. They told me beforehand that managed to find the unique sheep and wanted me to get it. After arrival to Ulan Bator we drove about 8 hours to the west. The  mountain range was located at altitudes of about 2000 meters. It looked like a plateau with deep canyons where the sheep inhabited.  These guys rented that area in 2013 and made a great job to conserve and even grow the sheep population. They persuaded the representatives of the local tribes not to pasture their herds in that area what influenced positively to the feed base. They involved the locals to the conservation process of sheep and creating conditions for sustainable development of the population and support them. They also invited the biologist and asked them for consultation how to make it and followed their advices. They made great number of salt places and dug artificial ponds, which were necessary for animals during the spring and fall periods. All these actions made good results. We saw lots of wild sheep being there. The sheep spent evenings on the plateau grazing and went back to the canyon during the during the day hours. Our hunting tactic was similar to the sheep regime, we moved along the canyons  looking for animals. One day I was lucky and shot a wolf, the locals were happy. Telling the truth I was also glad because it was honorary to get a wolf. On the sunset in the second day Tukso noticed the male, I was impressed how he distinguished it in the twilights. Next morning we found the group of animals which was led by our male at the same place. At 8 am we started to move toward them taking into account the wind’s direction and the specific of the landscape. We came to them at 300m but they disappeared behind the hill.  Then the group of 4 males went it around, reached the next hill and started to graze. I, Tukso and our cameraman approached 50 million looking for our male but the rest of the sheep noticed us. It happened very quickly, the sheep ran up to the mountains. The fast shooting didn’t give the result but later we knew that I hit the male to the back leg. I’m sure that you know what hunters feel when the desired trophy is running away. We ascended very fast and followed the animals. I was lucky because could noticed the males in 500 meters, made the corrections and fired. The first shot was accurate, I hit to its back. The second one killed it. The sheep had very impressive size.  I will wait for the results of its measurements.

Hunt for the Siberian Ibex

I was lucky to get the very good trophy of the Siberian Ibex with the horns 115 and 114 sm. The guides said that it was the record trophy in the last two seasons. I fired from the short distance 80 meters.

Hunt for Siberian Ibex

I took part in more than 50 different mountain hunts all over the world and at last I harvested MY first Mountain Trophy. The size isn’t huge but I got it from the first shot on the distance 310m. It started!

Altai Ibex

I arrived to Gorno-Altaisk by plane at early morning and in 40 minute flew by helicopter to the hunting base. In two hours more I collected and tested the gun and rode to the mountains. We were riding about 3 hours when saw the group if Ibex, one of which had the wide spread of horns. I shot from not comfortable position under the angle 36 degrees and 360m distance. The Ibex lay down after the third shot. It became darker and the guide went up to get it alone and let it down. It was 12 years old trophy which had 116 and 118 sm horns. The distance between horns was more then 1 meter. We went back to the camp at night. Next morning we saw the group of Ibex and tried to approach them but we late.  One more group we noticed at the late afternoon, the animals started to run away and I had to shoot. The distance was 830m. I got one more trophy with horns  103 and 105 sm. There is great hunting area with high population of animals. Thank you very much to Radiy Anchin and Stalker Group for the organization of this hunt.

Hunt for Aoudad or Barbary Sheep in Spain

The region Extremadura, and the village Navalvillar de pele, located in the territory of Mato Lozano is in 350 km to the south-west from Madrid. The Barbary Sheep was delivered there in the 70th years of the last century from Morocco. The square of the mountain massif is about 2000 ha, and about 300 specimen inhabit there. It’s difficult to define the accurate number because the mountains are covered by the thick forests and the animals hide there. The state gives 5 hunting licenses per year. I arrived to Madrid in July, 27  in the midst of the terrible summer heat, the day temperature rose to 40 degrees. The hunt was carried out in  early mornings and evenings when sheep, not actively, moved through the mountains. They had rest during the day hours and hid in the plants. In the first evening we spotted three males, one of which was the trophy size but they ran away from us to the opposite side of the mountain. We tried to find them next day but without any success. In a day we changed the tactic and drove to the other part of the ridge and found the groups of males there. I fired the male but all bullets went to the left and I checked the sets of the rented rifle. The test showed that I was right, all bullets went left. One more lesson to check the weapon beforehand especially when it belonged someone else's. At noon Diego detected the sheep which were far from us on the opposite rocky ridge but we made the plan, drove around it and started to climb from the back side to be above it. Diego, who stayed on the place, was directing us by phone where to go. This tactic worked well and we managed to approach them. I got not the big male by the first shot from the distance 20m. Then we went down and it was hard because our way led through the thick forest along the steep abyss. It wasn’t the difficult hunt but we worked hard and I hoped it’d be easier. The problem was in temperature and the season. The animals didn’t move actively and preferred to stay in the forest what made hard to find them.

Hunting for the Ibex in Tuva

I and my friends hunted for Ibexes in Tuva. All hunts last years had took place in the lower courses of the Hemchik River. In the fall you can set up an ambush near the watering hole or sail by boat examining the slopes then you have to head for shore and to fire. All these hunts are easy and it’s difficult to get the trophy size males by these ways. If you want to take the good one you have to go to the mountains, especially at the end of October or November. It is the rut time and old males go down to the herds of females. This year we drove to the West part of Tuva. Our company consisted of the game biologists, we all studied together in Irkutsk. I and my friend had flown from Moscow to Abakan – the capital of Khakassia. The flight took us 4 hours. Unfortunately there are not the direct flights from Moscow to Kyzyl. Vladimir, our friend and ex- fellow student met us at the airport. He lives in Kyzyl. We hugged each other and drove to Tuva. The distance was about 400 km and we had to cross the mountain pass which we all called “Lebed” be the name of the General who died there. It was 3 am next day when we arrived to Kyzyl. There we had short rest and spent the rest of the day buying food, preparing all necessary equipment and loading the car.At 1 am we began to move. One more hunter Victor joined our company there. We were going to drive about 500 km. I dont' remember when we reached the town Chadan but then turned to the South to Mongolia side. In the sunrise we arrived to one more friend, changed there our car to two UAZ cars and drove further all together. After arrival we set the tent and the stove and began to cook and settle the camp. The altitude was 1903 masl. The temperature outdoors was -24C. We were so tired that slept like dead men. Next morning we all divided into two groups and went to examine the next slopes. The mountains relief was difficult for horses and we all had to walk by foot. It wasn’t hard, it was awful. During the whole daylight I saw just one wild yak, four boars in the fir wood on the northern slope and the only fresh track of an Ibex not accounting the tracks of hares, foxes and wolfs. At the end of the day when we were going down to the bottom of the gorge we found the snow leopard bed. It was the reason why there wasn’t Ibexes at that place. Snow leopard is fond to eat Ibexes so they try to stay away from it.We were going back to the camp and It was very dark and I fall into the hole when crossing the river but my friends helped me. The second group didn’t get any trophies too. Having dinner we discussed our day’s results and decided to move by car to another valley. Probably there wouldn’t be any leopards. We had several licenses and solved to get the first Ibex just for food and next one as a trophy. It was the wise decision. You can’t stay there for a long time and walked if you don’t have enough nourishment.Next morning four of us drove to another valley in 8 km from the camp, divided into two groups , 2 person per each and went to the different gorges. I monitored the slopes through the binoculars while we were hiking but didn’t’ detect anything. I and the guy from Kyzyl began to climb by the steep slope, Oleg and his guide went further. Then the guys from another group told us by radio that noticed the males on the next slope and recommended to go faster. In 15 minutes my friend spotted the male which ran in 600 meters from us. He said that it hadn’t good horns. At that moment he felt tha his crampons weaked and we had to stop while he’d tie them. We stopped and talked while he was tiring them when suddenly I watched the horns in 200 above us. I didn’t believe it but looked attentively. Though they were. I asked Vladimir to keep silence and pointed to the horns. We both aimed and waited. And here it appeared, the nice male! Vladimir shot but the male pulled from the place and ran. I got it in the cross of the sight and fired. The Ibex fall and rolled down to the bottom of the gorge, 300-400 meters down. We were shocked! I was afraid that we just wounded it and the Ibex could run away. They are very strong and endurance animals. There were two variants what to do. The first one was to go on up to the mountains, the second was that one of us would go down and check the result. While we were thinking I rose the eyes and noticed one more horns above us. I shacked the head but it was true, one more beautiful male. I brought the gun to the shoulder, got it in the sight’s cross and pulled the trigger gently. But the stone under my feet moved a little when I was pulling and the barrel swung to the side. I missed it. The bullet rose snow dust from the left side of the Ibex and it disappeared behind the horizon. We both didn’t say any word and climbed to the place where the male stood when I shot it and detected in on the next slope in 1200 meters from us. Then we went down and found the first trophy. We made pictures, cut meat and went down. It wasn’t really difficult to descend along the snow gorge. Oleg and another guide joined us in the evening. We put meat into backpacks and went to the cars. In a half of an hour they arrived and we celebrated the trophy.Next morning the four from us drove to the nearest village. Vladimir, I and one more local guide staid in the camp. I decided to ascend to the mountains alone because somebody had to stay in the camp in any case. There were our cloth, car and the guns. I chose the gorge which was in 2-3 km up to the canyon and where I had seen lots of tracks yesterday. I was walking along the gorge and looked though the binoculars from time to time when detected the herd of Ibexes near the top. The animals stood there and watched me but didn’t move waiting for the action from my side. I turned out from them and went along the bed of the spring as if wasn’t interested in them at all. In one km I found the gorge which leaded to the destination I needed and climbed along it. My thoughts at that moment were that I has the gun with cal. 308 and I could make the accurate shot to the distance not more than 500 meters. The only way to reach them close was to approach from above. It took me 5 hours to reach the crest and then I had to go down to the place where the herd had been seen. I came there but didn’t find animals. It’s difficult to describe how upset I was when suddenly noticed females which grazed with babies. I heard the beating of my heart! I left all thing which I carried such as backpack, the binocular and even gloves and crawled to the next rock. I peeked from behind the rock and spotted 30-40 males. The distance was about 250 meters. Suddenly they felt smth and started to look to my side. I realized that they could disappear, chosen the biggest male and shot. I heard distinctly the slap from the bullet. The herd began to run and my goat ran too. I shot again and again. It decelerated at last. I got the extra cartridges and look to the goat and in that moment it stopped and fall. Thus I got it. That trophy was bigger than the yesterday’s one. I made pictures and cut meat. It was really dark when I arrived to the camp. Fortunately I always have the flashlight with me. The guys waited me in the camp and began to worry. Next morning we packed the camp and drove to the wolf hunt. One of our friends who had the flock of sheep asked to help him in the fight with the predators. They harmed it much. But there wasn’t our friend in the place and we had to drive back to Kyzyl. From there we sailed up the Yenisei to the next base. Then the trip was over and we flew back to home.

My hunting report from Turkey chase

I made some Russian-Turkish campaign, as they were in our history and want to add some more. Russian guns won most of them except the Crimean one but it’s discussible. I has worthy gun AWMAccuracy 338 LapuaMag. If you know how to use it, the accurate shot can be made to the distance 540-720m. What I hunted already: traditional Bezoar Ibex in Jan. 2015, exotic Konya Mouflon in Sep. 2014, ferocious Tavry boar in Jun. 2015. I plan to prey for Bezoar (Hybrid) Ibex and Chamois, Mid-Asian Red deer. All trips were organized by Stalker Group from Russia and Caprine Safaris from the Turkey side. Caprine Safaris is one of the best Asian companies with American style of work. My chronicle: Konye Mouflon was my first trophy in Turkey from which everything has started. The hunt was predictable and easy. We planned to spend it in 4 days but managed to finished everything in one. My trophy with horns was delivered in a couple of month. Bezoar Ibex.  We hunted with my friend and both got trophies. First day we spent looking for Ibex. This process was organized very well. Early morning we drove to the highland, looked  through binoculars and defined the places which had to be checked. Then we saw moving and decided to come closer. The group of 3 guides and the hunter climbed to the mountain but didn’t find the male. On the next day we noticed the Ibex which was confirmed by everybody. The shot distance is important for me and we tried to take into account the features of my gun. The first shot made the Ibex to run slower and the second one stopped it.  The horns size were 118sm. This this Ibex will decorate my World's Goat collection. The Boar:  It was the night hunt. The boar’s hunt in Turkey isn’t like in Russia, The main strategy to check feeders. They don’t use hunting stand and not sit in a special places.  The corner stone of this hunt is to be imperceptible and came to the shooting distance. Any noise, crunch, creak, cough - can spoil the hour approach. There are many boars but they are wild and shy, you had to shoot not measuring the trophy size, and do it just for luck. The trophies, which we got, had good paramets. The longest fangs were 22.5 sm and 18.5- the shortest ones. Turkey is the nice country. All hunts are comfortable and efficient.  I recommend it.

The second hunt in Pakistan

I got the trophy of the Punjab Urial in the one day. The main difficulty for me was that I arrived there being sick a little bit. Five days we waited for good weathee and then flew to Gilgit. The airport was located in the mountains valley and it was often covered by clouds. After arrival there we drove two days to the village Shimshal ,on the way we crossed the lake which flood the Kara Kym Highway after the rock’s collapse. Then we hiked two days to the hunting base. The height was 5000 masl. The total number of staff who worked in the camp was 24 people including guides and Sherpas. It reminded me safari trips in Africa in the beginning of the last century. The hunt was hard because each step was difficult on such height but we walked three days while got the nice trophy of the Blue Sheep.Next morning snow fall and cut us off from the civilization. It was dangerous to went back by the same way. The whole next week we waited for the choppers of the Pakistan Air Force while they’d deliver us back to Gilgit. I've never been so excited about civilization, we all lost from 5 to 7 kg each though didn’t walk a lot. It was my the most epic hunt. Highly recommended!

My first hunt in Pakistan

We arrived to Karachi from Islamabad and were met by the local outfitter. The host met us with great honors and accommodated on the house which belonged to the local Sheikh. It’s very rare when we stay in such luxury places during the hunting trip. The hunt for the Blandford Urial was very short and not really interesting. The local guides found the trophy size male before my arrival and I just needed to approach it and to shoot. It took about 10 minutes. Its left horn was damaged but the right one had the record size. Then we moved to Baluchestan. That place was located very close to the Afghanistan border and the FATA and was more exotic. Everything looked very patriarchal. Our guides looked like the heroes from the movie about Taliban. They all used Kalashnikovs of different kinds. It made the lasting impression on me. That day we walked a lot, trying to find the Urial and I spent about 2 hours waiting when the choosen male would step away from the herd. It was very interesting hunt and not difficult. I’ll remember it for a long.
