Hunt for Chukotka Snow Sheep

After the unlucky hunt for Kamchatka Snow Sheep and the other successful ones for Yakutia Snow Sheep and Okhotsk Snow Sheep I tried to check my luck with the Chukotka Snow Sheep. The guys from High Hunt Pro had several licenses and I decided to asked for a discount. I promised that If I got the trophy I would hunt just with their company and made the picture with the trophy and their logo. Moreover I assured them that my friends would join me to the next hunt organized by them. They accepted my conditions and we stroke hands. Then everything depended on the weapon and one lady whom I love so much, her name is Fortune. She allowed me to make one shot from the distance 418m. I used Blazer, cal. 7 mm rem mag.

Hunt for Low Tatra Chamois in Slovakia

I got Low Tatra Chamois in Slovakia in November 2018. It was the average male 8-9 years old.The hunt lasted one day. The shooting distance was 230m. The outfitter was well known German company of George Vershe. We had enough time and by the offer of George I used it for the hunt for a deer in the hunting farm in Romania. Some words about the weapon. I flew to Vienna with my own gun and received it in the airport on the oversize luggage stand. I showed the gun and Russian permit, plus some papers which received in Sheremetyevo at the custom. They checked the number of the gun, the number of the cartridges and allowed me to pass without filling any papers. When I was going back from Vienne to Moscow after the check in at the airport I went to the oversize luggage stand once again and showed the gun and all papers, they verified numbers, made copies of the passport and the permit and took the gun. The representative of the Aeroflot company assisted me in this procedure. He asked to make all copies.

Tajikistan. Afghan Urial, 2015

The hunt was organized in the Khatlon Province of Tajikistan. We stayed for a night in the house of the local guy. I didn’t know how many people slept there but most of them laid on the floor where we sat and eat before, when I tried to come to the restroom. In the morning they gave me the horse which looked very tired and weak due to lack of nutrition. It slowly followed the son of the house owner. We rode up several hours and reached the top at last. When we had the rest on the top , the guides detected the group of males which grazed on the opposite slope. I tried to find the comfortable position to shoot but the clay slope under my feet didn’t allow to fix and I rolled down. At last I found the tree which used like the support. The shooting distance was 640m. I shot and wounded. The Urial ran behind the slope and stopped. I had to ran to another position, made the second shot and missed. We decided to went down to the house but two guided staid to look for the male. I hit it but if the bullet didn’t touch the bone, the animal could stay alive for a while. They found the trophy on the next day. Its horns were 75 sm.

Hunt for Okhotsk Snow Sheep

After getting Yakutia Snow Sheep we drove to the habitat of the Okhotsk Snow Sheep. The road was by the riverbed with huge stones. It took us 5- 7 hours. We used special cars UAZ with additional gantry bridge from VOLVO Laplander and Kamaz. When we arrived our guides Pete and Nikolay went up to the mountains for scouting and in three hours told us by radio that they found the trophy size sheep. We decided to climb in the morning. All our team got up at 6 am and at 8 am we started climbing. I made the shot at noon from the distance 412m, cal 7mm rem mag.We went down to the cars at 4 pm and drove to the base camp where arrived at 10 pm. Next day at 6 am we moved to Yakutsk.

Carpathian Chamois. 05.11.2018

It was my eighth trophy of the Chamois. The road from Bucharest to the hunting base took us 3 hours. The base was enough comfortable with wifi and the cook was very good. I guess that most of you know that place. I met the Spanish hunter there who got good trophy ( 120 points by CIC classification). He tried to get the second trophy in the day when we arrived but missed. Next morning at 7 am we drove to the mountains, it took us 2 hours. After the arrival to the place we tested the guns and went up. We climbed about 2 hours. The mountains look very easy and gentle but that was only at first glance. All slopes were covered by hummocks and it wasn’t easy to walk there. The guide told us that he saw chamois in 400 m before the top but they were frightened by tourists and we had to ascend to the top and try to find them there. I was tired after two hours of climbing and suggested to have some rest while our guide would go up and check the situation on the other side of the slope. I and my companion were having the rest when noticed the chamois which laid in 50 meters from us. It laid and looked at us. The guide went away with my gun and the only way how I could get the trophy was to throw stones to it. So we all, I , my partner and the chamois laid for 10 minutes when the guided appeared on the top and showed the signs , not to move. The chamois stoop up and moved slowly when another one joined it. The second chamois had trophy size. We didn’t want to run in the mountains and decided to fire. The guided went down to me and I shot it from the distance 70meters. The descend was also very tough thought the all way was about 6-7 km. My legs ached several days. The trophy had 95.7 points by CIC and Bronze by SCI, 25”It was the average difficulty hunt. Good luck on the hunts.

I got my trophy of the Caucasian Chamois in November 6, 2018. It was the rut time and all animals moved very actively. Thanks to experience and the knowledge of our guide Hussein we detected the herd of Chamois in the first day. The vertical climb was 500m but we hiked about 6 km. I fired from the distance 240m, elevation 2400masl. I got nice trophy of the Chamois, one horn was 23 sm but it lost the second one while fighting for females. Thank you very much to the local outfitters Vladimir , Andrey  and Hussein for the great job.

The first Ibex

It was my first mountain hunt. It was organized in Kyrgyzstan not far from Bishkek near the boundary with Kazakhstan. On the second day we found three big males and decided to creep  them up  the next morning from the back side of the slope. We all got up at 3 am, had short breakfast, collect all goods and started at 4am. Half an hour we drove by quad bike and then climbed about tree hours to 3200m height.  The climb started from 2000m. When we reached the top our guides noticed three good males in 300m from us. I was tired and in a hurry, as the result I missed. After it we tracked about six hours up and down looking for the animals. At 3 pm our guide Sergey found the lost group. I took the comfortable position, the distance was 220m, angle 41 degrees.I took it from the first shot. Thank you very much for guides Sergey and Alexander. We went down about 5 hours. I'd never been so tired in my life but happy because I got my first trophy.
