Hunt for Barbary Sheep (Ammotragus lervia), introduced into Europe

Croatia is one of the few places where you can hunt for the Barbary Sheep without fences. I tried to hunt in the evening but the weather wasn’t well and preferred to have dinner with the owners. We got up early at 5 am and went to the mountains. In an hour and a half we noticed the lonely ram. The shot was made from the distance 214m, angle 30 degrees. The trophy took the silver medal of SCI. Thank you very much to Stalker Group and personally to Evegeny Haritonov for this hunt. Special thanks to Joseph Tomianovich- J&P AGENT owner for his professionalism

Hunt for Dalmatian Wild Sheep

We went to the mountains at the dawn but saw just two young males and some  female sheep with lambs. It became hot and we went back to the village to have lunch. We slept all hot hours and started climbing once again at 5 pm. In two hours I noticed the group of animals with one trophy size male. I shot from the distance  230m. The trophy was 7 years old male. Thank you very much to Stalker Group and personally to Evegeny Haritonov for this hunt.

Hunt for Kri-Kri (Hybrid) Ibex

I arrived to Zagreb by Aeroflot, and then flew to Zadar by Croatia Airlines. Joseph Tomianovich met us at the airport and in a half an hour we were driving by boat. After 40 minutes of the see walk we arrived to the Dugi Otok. We had quick lunch and went to the mountains. Close to the sunset we saw three goats, one of which was the trophy size. I track it down for an hour and at last had the opportunity to shoot. The trophy was 8 years old male, which could take the second place by the SCI classification in Hybrid Ibex(Europe, free range ) category. It’s my 38th trophy from the MHC Cappra List and my permit to the 30/30 GSCO club.Thank you very much to Stalker Group and personally to Evegeny Haritonov for this hunt.

Hunt on the Nubian Ibex, introduced to South African Republic

Due to the full limitation or absence of the possibility for the legal hunting on this species of the goat in the natural area of habitat in northern Africa, the head of CMH included the subspecies, introduced to the South African Republic in to the rating list. The hun was organized in the lands of the company of my old friend Rayan Ebbot, at his family ranch, placed in the vicinity of the Kuruman town, Northern Cape Province. Very interesting and diverse lands with mountain and savanna landscapes. Me and my friends had also the possibility to take different trophies of the African antelopes. I’d like to note, that all the hunting lands in South African Republic are enclosed, but with very large territory. I have been hunting on the land with the area of about 10000 hectares. The hunt on the Barbary Sheep, which I already head, took me the whole day.     We managed to find a group of males at the first day of hunt, but the hunt on the Ibex took our time. We have spent four days on the search. We walked across all the mountain ridges and were searching for the goat in the morning and in the evening. Once the helpers saw a single male and drove him to the valley from the mountain, but the hunter couldn’t see him personally. Only on the fourth day, when we realized that search of the Ibex in the mountains is unpromising, we found it. Almost occasionally, at the savannah part of the hunting lands. Hence, the introduced Ibex was very hard and uneasy for the hunting and preservation of the African animals.    I am not going to go deep in to the questions of the aviary hunting in this report, but I want to note that many leadership hunting clubs support legal hunting. If, on some reason, the hunt on the particular animal is impossible within its natural area of habitat, clubs count introduced subspecies, as well as GSCO and SCI do the exception and allows such trophies, taken within enclosed areas, due to observed reasons.

Hunt for Pyrenean Chamois

I hunted for Pyrenean Chamois in the National Park Posets-Maladeta on the boundary between Spain and France. The weather at the first day was awful. It was rain with squally wind, reaching gusts up to 30-40 m / s. I saw enough chamois but all of them were far, more then 400m and I couldn’t make accurate shot. If I had my own gun the hunt would finished quickly but I used the rented one. After 5 hours walk in the wooded cliffs we noticed old male and decided to come closer to shoot. We came at the distance 150-200m ( the rangefinder couldn’t define the distance in such weather) and I shot. The goat ran in 10 meters away and stopped. I shot once again and missed. Moreover I’d hit my forehead by the sight. After it we decided to try once again in the next day. We were at the mountains early morning. The weather was clear but windy. We met the trophy male when it was 650 from us and spend three hours trying to come closer. At last we approached it to 245m. I remember my last experience with the gun and shot when saw the black circle. It doesn’t influence on the accuracy. I hit to the right place. Thank you very much to Stalker Group and personally to Evegeny Haritonov for this hunt.

Hunt for Cantabrian Chamois

After a brief search, we noticed a large male chamois grazing under the top of the mountain. The distance was 320m, angle 30 degrees. I decided to shoot though the position wasn’t good. I used rented Tikko T3, 300 wm, less then 3.5 kg and 185 gr Hornady cartridges.  It was tested on the distance 200m. I accounted the distance 250m using my angle data.I got it but my uncomfortable position became the reason why the sight cut the face and I had to ask doctors for a help.  The trophy was old goat which is got to the TOP 20 SCI list by the preliminary estimate. Thank you very much to Stalker Group and personally to Evegeny Haritonov for this hunt which I’ll never forget.

Hunt for Mallorcan Wild Goat

After two hours of the slow walk I got 10 years old male. The distance was less than 100m. I has known that the hunt on Majorca has the feature. You can’t shoot the animal which stand against the sky. The hunter has to see what is behind it.Thank you very much to Stalker Group and personally to Evegeny Haritonov for the organization of this hunt

Mid-Caucasian Chamois

The hunt took one day. We did two approaches after a lunch. I got it from the distance 140 m and shot from the bottom up.

Tibetian Bharal, taken in Pakistan

It was one of the most difficult hunts in my career, by all the criteria. Long logistics, many days of walk, great heights, significant physical work. The driving itself took two days; many hours and two days of walk to the base camp on the heigh about 3800 meters a.s.l. The population of the sheep is good. That explained, why me and Magidov Sergey had successful hunt at the first day and we did it almost simultaneously on the opposite ridges. The organization quite well thought-out. On the way back we used the option to fly a helicopter of the Pakistan Air Force. It is possible to use it for getting to the base camp as well, but the weather was bad in our case and we couldn’t get directly to Gilgit (about 45 minutes of drive) and was the reason of the many-day, but interesting trip. I want to note, that in general this journey was unlucky. Some more trophies were in plans in Kvette, but due to dishonourableness of the subcontractor of the Profi-Hunt, Turkish company Shikar Safaris, to the last moment we didn’t know if we are allowed to receive the permit for the hunt on Urial and Suleyman Makhor. Mr. Kann gave out desirable for valid and told us that the documents were received. The one should always work out all the moments when he works with this company. I tried to hunt on the Kashmir Markhor, but two days of search gave no results and we couldn’t see anything good. Warm and early spring in the mountains – it was about 25 degrees at the light period of the day, could be the reason, why old males migrated somewhere. I had to get on the highest point, about 3000 meters a.s.l., but neither we, nor observers, who were on the neighboring ridge, have seen nothing proper. Two young males and a lot of females gave us the point, that the animals are present here, but, probably, we were unlucky.

Hunt for Beceite Ibex

We arrived to the hunting area at 7 am and next ten hours met lots of females Ibex and young males. We noticed old male at the sunset. It was very nice Ibex with great horns. I’ve heard the slap after the shot and it meant that I hit to the right place. The distance was 200m. Thank you very much to Stalker Group and personally to Evegeny Haritonov and Ludmila Baranova for the organization of this hunt. Many thanks to their partner in Spain Alexo.

Hunt for Southeastern Spanish Ibex

We arrived to Sierra Nevada at the second part of the day, made check in and drove to the mountains. The guide who was tracking down the group of Ibex from early morning, waited for us. One of the males was bigger than others. I shot from the distance 300m and the goat ran on the three legs. In a km it couldn’t ran anymore and lay down. I made the second shot from the distance 680m. Unfortunately the Ibex fell to the bottom of the gorge from the 400m height and harmed the horns. We could pull it just on the next day. Thank you very much to Stalker Group and personally to Evegeny Haritonov and Ludmila Baranova for the organization of this hunt. Many thanks to their partner in Spain Alexo.

Hunt for Ronda Ibex

I got 9 years old Ibex from the distance 456m. It was windy 3/5 m/s , temp. +10C.  Thank you very much to Stalker Group and personally to Evegeny Haritonov and Ludmila Baranova for the organization of this hunt. Many thanks to their partner in Spain Alexo.

Hunt for Mid-Caucasian Tur (Severtsev Tur)

I got the opportunity to hunt for Mid-Caucasian Tur using the quantity control license. The hunt was organized in the Elbrus region of Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. I arrived to Mineralnye Vody and  we went to the mountains in the evening. It was a pleasure to spend the night not in the camp but in the nice and warm house. Next morning we started climbing and noticed the group of animal  pretty soon. There were two big males. I decided to shoot. The distance was 643m and angle 28 degrees). My trophy became 16 years old Tur. It pretends to be in the top 10 of SCI by the preliminary estimation. Thank you very much to the outfitters who organized this hunt

Hunt for Himalayan Tahr and Tibetian bharal in Nepal

The hunt was organized on the height 400-4200m. On the fifth day I shot the trophy of the 8 years old bharal. It’s my 30th ram from the Ovisit list and 34th trophy from the MHC list. We trekked two days to the second place where I was going to hunt for a tahr. I saw it at the first day of our arrival and got it. It was 12 years old male. All staff is very professional. Thanks a lot to all team and personally to Vadim Plaksin who helped me in this hunt.

Hunt on the Bukharan Markhor

I have been hunting on the lands of Davlethan Muloerov. Raised early in the morning and elevated on the height 1500 m a.s.l. before the sunlight. It took us about an hour and a half. I must note, that 70-years old Davlethan was walking easily and faster than the young rangers. Almost on the sunrise we saw two old goats. I shote the leg of one of them from the distance 630 meters. We thought, that the animal fell in the bushes, but in real, it was imperceptibly walking on the slope. Common knowledge, that the injured animal goes down the slope, it was the same in our case. But it was amazing, what steep rocks our shot animal was moving on. For the long time we were searching him by the bloody trail. After three hours of search Davlethan found the animal almost in the lower part of the gorge. A marvelous male of 10 years old has been taken with the second shot and from 670 meters distance. I want to thank Davlethan and Ayuba Muloerov with a young scientist Halil Karimov and to all the squad, The hunt on the border with Afganistan, very steep mountains, difficult and intense hunt.

Hunt for Chartreuse Chamois

After the hunt for Vercors Chamois I drove to the Chartreuse Mountains. Everything was organized  pretty well. Great thanks to «Ovini expeditions” and “Stalker Group” for this hunt. I took the 27th trophy from the Capra List and 20th from GSCO List.
