After several flights I spent some time for acclimatization and got enough sleep before the ascent. Then, there were 4 hours by car and the same time by horses – to reach the base camp, while all the trophy rambles over the mountains were only made on foot.
After two unsuccessful days we moved to another base camp and during the first ramble found a male with huge horns. But! The trophy would be legal if the horns of our male were just a half inch longer.
Had to return to the first camp, where found nothing interesting either.
On the day 7th we moved to the third place where immediately found a herd with a trophy stag but that was late in the evening. The next day we got very close to that herd, at about 150 m, only to found out that this male was also illegal!
Finally, when there just two days of hunt left, ten minutes before the dusk I noticed a splendid stag on a glade. Having run about half a kilometer I managed to discern just two spots which looked like rams. After my shot both spots vanished. When the dark fell we found neither blood, nor fur…
I found my ram on the last day of the trip. It was lying right where the bullet hit it!
