Mongolia
I hunted Siberian Ibex in north-western Mongolia with the participation of “Stalker-group” and local outfitter BT&T. We lived in a base camp which consisted of several yurts that safely covered us when it was snowing with rain and the wind was 12 m/s.
The hunt itself took twenty-four hours. During the several hours search we found three groups of animals which numbered totally about 30 head and included a separate group of several mature males. One 10-12 year old male in the group particularly stood out with its steeply curved horns. We decided to approach it. The approach took about 3 hours. We managed to get to a distance of about 230 m. Another hundred meters we had to crawl through dry low grass, hiding from the goats behind a sloping hillock. We couldn’t get any closer but from our position we could see only the horns of a pair of animals. We got wet through and got cold waiting the chosen male to stand up to change its posture. And it failed it…
