The Tatra Mountains in Poland and Slovakia. The chamois is found exclusively within national parks and state forestry areas.
  • In Poland, the range of the chamois is limited to the Slovak and Polish sides of the High Tatras, as well as the Western and Belianske Tatras.
  • In Slovakia, chamois inhabit areas approximately 50 km south of the High Tatras in the Low Tatras, in the upper part of the Lomnistá Valley and its surroundings, as well as in the upper part of the Vaiskovska Valley. The two parts of the range are separated by a deep, wide, densely populated valley.
